Thank you all so much for the helpful information. It has been
forwarded to the teacher who requested it.

I was asked to post the information I received so here it is:

--------------------
I did a unit on the Holocaust. First I would talk
about Germany, and Hitler. We would read about him.
My students also had to do a 6 weeks project these
were made up by me.

I would start my unit with a picture book "The
children we remember: photographs from the Archives of
Yad Vashem by Chana Byers Abells. We also read
"Number the Stars, by Lois Lowery, oc course Anne
Frank: the diary and Anne Frank: life in Hiding, by
Johanna Hurwitz. Also Remember not to forget: a memory
of the Holocaust, Tell them we remember: the story of
the Holocaust by Susan Bachrach.

There are some videos. I used Aswitch, If you cried
you died. It is very powerful. Also Schindlers List.

There are other videos on the camps. They are so
moving, I know that my children were in tears and they
could not understand how this could happen. I think
this should be taught in every middle school and high
school

Here are some lists and articles I have on the topic:

Check the archives of LM-NET This question goes around two or three
times every year and there is a wealth of appopriate books that have
been posted in previous hits.

--------------------

I have used this video with my classes and they really enjoy it. It
comes with a wonderful teacher's guide, and activities that tie into
a Web site. It is a fictionalized account based on the Ann Frank
storyline.

Number the Stars

----------------------

We are a grade seven-eight middle school and we have a big Holocaust
unit, so I have made a web page listing many resources.

----------------------

This is a list of Accelerated Reader books that I created that
specifically cover the Holocaust. The first column of numbers tells
what the Instructive Reading level is. I have read all of these books
and enjoyed them. I do think that _Devil's Arithmetic_ is particularly
poignant.
