Dear Wonderful and Wise Librarians, I have entered the field of School Media Specialist this year via lateral entry. I took one class over the summer and am currently enrolled in another. These classes (as well as the MLS program) are offered online. Lately, I have been thinking about going back to school full time next year in order to complete my MLS. Thus, I wouldn't have to juggle grad classes as well as managing my media center. I would also get to see the people that I am in class with as well as my professor. My questions for you are: 1. Would you recommend completing a MLS degree while working or would you recommend going to school full time and finishing it in a year? 2. Did anyone go to the University of Maryland - College Park or Univeristy of Texas - Austin to complete their MLS? If so, could you please give me some information about their programs? (I am thinking about moving.) 3. Are there any universities or colleges that have extremely strong programs for School Media? Thank you as always, Rebekah Agner, Media Specialist Parkwood Elementary School Durham, NC rebaagner@msn.com _________________________________________________________________ Get your FREE download of MSN Explorer at http://explorer.msn.com/intl.asp =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-==-= All postings to LM_NET are protected under copyright law.
