TECH: When good videotapes go bad...

I hope someone can provide some advice on a problem that I am having with
a videotape.  The tape worked fine last week, but this week won't work at
all.  It plays for a few seconds, then just seems to stop itself and shut
the VCR off.  I have tried other tapes on the same machine, and they play
just fine.  I am a little reluctant to try the tape on my machine at home,
thinking it might somehow screw the VCR up.

Does this sound like a problem that can be cleared up some way
mechanically with the tape?

I would be grateful for any suggestions!
