Hello all! My school is contemplating a different kind of schedule for next year. What they would like to do is have everybody (k-4) teaching a reading block at the same time every day (approximately 2 hours in length) and possibly having another block in which everyone is teaching math. This would allow us to mix and match kids through the different grade levels for enrichment type activities. The problem is organizing the "rest of the day" around these blocks of time. For instance, we are on a six day rotating schedule for music, art and PE. We're trying to visualize getting 12 different classes scheduled in for all the specials without cutting down their time. My question: are there any schools out there who are currently working with this kind of schedule? If so, could you enlighten us on how it is working? Any problems, etc? Your help would be greatly appreciated! diane * * * * * * * * * * ** * * * * * ** * * * * Diane Fight, K-8 Media Specialist Durant Community Schools Durant IA email: rynecat@aol.com (home) dfight@po-1.durant.k12.ia.us (work) "Reading is having a dialogue with an author.
