When I am out I am required to get a substitute to stay in the library. Fortunately there are several now who can operate the circulation computer so that the students can check out books. However, I come back to school most of the time to find that the substitute has been pulled from the library to be used in another classroom where a teacher didn't find his or her own. The substitutes that I have chosen enjoy working in the library but I am afraid that they will not want to come for me because they know that they will be put in a classroom. It is upsetting to take the time to train a substitute to operate the circulation computer and then have them sent elsewhere. If the principal didn't insist that I get a substitute it wouldn't be a problem, but it is hard to take when I wake up feeling bad and then have to spend time on the telephone trying to get someone to take my place. Does anyone else have this problem or what do you do when you are out? ----------------------------------------------------- Madeline L. Buchanan Library Media Specialist W. J.
