I strongly agree with Nancy on this one, but my experience has told me that
it doesn't always happen that way.  The paper work to get this done can
often take a full semester or more.  Even then it might not happen.  I once
had three such children in the same first grade reading class.  All of them
were from out of district but the principal resisted shipping them back to
the larger neighborhood schools from which they had been transferred.  Our
attendance numbers were dropping and he was afraid we would be closed.  He
never stopped to think that there might be a reason why the majority of
home owners in the district chose private schools.
