Hi. This is a bit off-topic, but if anyone has information and the time
and inclination to respond to me at kumbach@unlimited.net, I would
appreciate it. If there is sufficient response to make for an interesting
report, I will summarize the results in a HIT, and may develop a story to
submit to Linn's Stamp News.

Here is the question: is stamp collecting (philately) of ANY current
interest in schools? Do school librarians receive any inquiries about
books on the subject? (Current books are few and far between ... although
I see there is a new one in the "For Dummies" series, and one published in
1999, and stamp stores seem to have largely disappeared.) Is there any
evidence that teachers anywhere use stamps as part of curriculum? For
example, to illustrate geography lessons? It seems to me that with the
great current interest in world affairs and distant countries, perhaps some
teachers (maybe those who collected as kids) have made use of the hobby in
the classroom.

Thanks.

Ken
