creation of a civilization book for ms

All right everyone-put your thinking caps on! We are looking for a book that
would parallel the "creation of a civilization" theme found in _Lord of the
Flies_. The only books I can think of that are appropriate for middle school
are:

_The Girl Who Owned a City_
_Tomorrow When the War Began_ (maybe?)
_Weslandia_ (picture book)

Any thoughts? TIA!
