If anyone has used the incentive reading program called Books and Beyond = could you please let me know how successful it has been in your school. = We have used it for the last two years, but it seems to me that the = emphasis has shifted from reading lots of good books to giving kids lots = of prizes. The program is run by PTO volunteers who keep quoting that it = is a nationally acclaimed program, but this doesn't seem like reason = enough to me to have kids win something for every little page and = provide them with hundreds of raffle prizes at the conclusion. I have = purchased M. Ellen Jay's book about Reading Incentive Programs for other = ideas, but guess I am mainly looking for anyone who is a Books & Beyond = user and how it works in your situation. Thanks!
