I know we have addressed suggestions of books for an after school book club but I have to come up with some guidelines, rules, expectations for my new club. The students (not sure how many of grade, 6, 7, 8) will be with me once a week for 1-1/2 hours. My plan was to just have us all read and discuss the same book. Do you do one book each month? In my district, I am restricted to using books that have been approved as supplemental texts but there are many of them, so do I let them vote on what to read? What kinds of things do we discuss? This is the first time I have ever done this and really have no ideas. I need to create an advertisement for the sign up which is next Tues so I want to have something to put on the ad that will both inform and entice them. Who buys the books? We have no club money. Thanks so much in advance. I will post a hit in the next couple of weeks--I just lost my assistant so I am drowning at the moment!
