Student access to materials

Our school district computer catalog allows students to place holds at
other schools in the district.  My school has students at the K-5 grade
level.  Students this level can access and place holds on materials from
the middle school and from the high school.   At times these materials do
not seem appropriate to the students age level.   Does anyone have any
thoughts on this issue.  Does your school have a policy?
