Dear Peter
It is 6.40am here - before I go to school in an hour or so, I will be
getting a large candle which will burn in the school library and there will
be other candles that any child who wishes to, may light for the children in
the US. Not just the children who have lost their lives or their parents
but for each and every child in each and every corner of your country whose
sense of safety has been so horrendously violated.

It is indeed but a gesture, but I think it may provide some peace of mind
for our children here that they can do something to share the burden and
that the flame of peace, harmony and hope for the future will be burning
again.

Hi Barbara....

What a day at school today has been..... We were notified of the first
tragedy during Period 1 today. We have had some problems with our TV cable
system and not all rooms had access to a TV .... Some classes came to the
Library to watch .... We all watched in disbelief as each new event
unfolded .... throughout the day. Americans do not think that something
like this could ever happen on our shores. It can, it can happen anywhere.

I live in a small city, each over 500 miles from New York City or
Washington .... but many things here have closed. Flights bound for Canada
were re-routed to the small airport in my city. Our government building
closed, our universities closed. All domestic flights were ordered not to
take off and Reuters reported that all domestic flight have now landed.
Incoming Trans-Atlantic flights were re-routed to Canada; Canadian domestic
flights were canceled to handle the US overflow. Just unbelievable.

Peter
