One of our brand new teachers stopped in this afternoon to ask if I could
help her with materials for a consumers math class. She is a first year
teacher and is teaching the class without a textbook ( and it appears
without any type of specific course description) and is seeking any
ideas, websites or activities that she can use for this class. I realize
this is a vague request but at this point she is really looking for
anything that she can add to the class to make it useful to her students.
She specifically mentioned credit issues, possible role playing games as
well as the above. Of course I don't have a single item in the library
that will be helpful. I guess the fun part of having a less than
wonderful collection is that there is alway a new area to explore --so
that you can buy the materials that no one will use until next
year--unless the teacher doesn't come back! Anyway any suggestions for
ideas , actitivies, purchase and internet resources would be greatly
appreciated.
