Dear LM_NET Colleagues,

One of the nice things about LM_NET is that it is a pretty comfortable
place, considering most of us have never met each other. One of the things
that makes it comfortable is our use of identification when we post
messages. We are able to imagine a little bit about the person, their job,
school, and maybe even more....

This is a friendly reminder to use a complete ID when posting to LM_NET.
LM_NET has a "required identification" (in the BODY of the message) policy
for all messages posted. Those not using ID as described below will be
asked to use appropriate ID, and will be delayed in the timeliness of
their messages being posted to the group.

Please be sure to include: Example:

1. Name, Occupation/Job Title Jo Booksworth, Librarian
2. Worksite Best School, Bestville, CA
3. e-mail address JBOOKSWORTH@BEST.K12.CA.US

Some Reasons for ID: The address at the top (header) doesn't identify if
the person is in a library related position. LM_NET is for school
librarians and other school library personnel, as well as those that they
have dealings with. Commercial messages are not allowed. If a message is
inappropriate, it gives us a way to filter them out. Many people don't see
the person's return address in their e-mail header, so they must
unnecessarily reply to the entire list.

We are trying to maintain a consistent level of "etiquette", and our
members have wanted to know some basic information about those posting to
the group, expressed in their "signatures". With 13,000+ members, and 50+
messages a day being posted, we don't want to have many inappropriate
messages posted. With the cooperation and support of our members, this
policy has helped make LM_NET effective. This is just one of the ways that
LM_NET is trying to keep this forum a useful and helpful place to be
online.

We are glad to have you with us. Thank you for your contributions to our
virtual community, and thank you for your understanding and cooperation!
