I am confused.

I thought the rule was if a movie is curriculum based, shown in a regular
classroom setting, and not used as a reward, it could be shown without any
other permission.

"I've talked to two video =
companies, and they both tell me the "Flowers for Algernon" version is not
in print. My teachers don't want to show "Charly", so I've contacted the
producers of FFA and asked for permission to show their version"
