(be specific) ----------- ________________________________________________________________________ ... I've found using pathfinders is very helpful in covering all the resources. I've also created a process from keywords to reference to nonfiction to vertical file and periodicals to finally the internet. I have attached one for you to see (MS Word--if you can't read it, I'll send as rich text or Appleworks as I'm on a Mac). Create one for the topic that students are coming in for. After the first one, just modify and save with new topic name. Big6 is a great process to use. See their site: www.big6.com If you can, teach searching, notetaking (great activity on big6 site called Trash or Treasure), creating a bibliography, and try to get the teacher (or are you doing this alone?) to get the kids to do some sort of project that uses the information rather than just regurgitating it. Our kids have trouble with creating good questions. Try www.questioning.org for help in that area. Have fun. It's great! Don't forget to make time to see the end result. It will all be worth it, as well as telling you what needs review, additions or correcting bad habits. ...
