Just a thought -- I'm not sure that some of these listed are
biographies.  There are a lot of stories that are "based on someone's
life" but are definitely fiction.  I believe My Great - Aunt Arizona
fits in that category as do the books by James Stevenson and Tomie
dePaola mentioned at the end of this hit.

Titles that I failed to send along to Kristen earlier are the
wonderful autobiographes published by R. C. Owens Publishers.  The
whole Meet the Author series by Richard C. Owen Publishers is
wonderful.  One title is Best Wishes by Cynthia Rylant (ISBN
1878450204. but they're all  great, easily accessible to 3rd and 4th
grade readers but interesting enough to be of interest to a little
older student as well.  Each title is full of  color photographs of
the authors.
