Dear Margaret Being an author for AWL (and in maths!) the parent body is now Pearson Education but I only have their Australian Head Office details. I am fairly certain that their main HO is London, but with all the changes in the publishing world, it could be Timbuktu! In the situation that you are talking about, Australian schools are covered by a licence which allows copying of materials that are out of print or cannot be obtained within 28 days from our regular suppliers at regular retail price. I don't know if US schools also have licences that give them rights beyond the Copyright Act itself but it might be worth checking.
