Hopefully we are not dropping our leadership role as information access providers and teachers solely because the information is not sitting on our shelves. We can still select quality sites as resources. A good example would be Gary Price's Direct Search at: http://gwis2.circ.gwu.edu/~gprice/direct.htm And we can provide student and faculty access to the paid subscription sites. The other, and probably more important piece, is teaching the critical thinking skills needed for evaluation of information. This trend toward more pay-per-view Web sites has implications for us. As more of these quality sites go subscription, where will students get their Internet information? Answer: From the sites that are left, which will be more apt to be poor quality and inaccurate.
