The post mentioning mnemonic devices reminds me of my teachers in grade school who made such things as remembering the diff. in spelling "stationary and stationery" EASY. The teacher said" LETTER" has only e's in it for vowels, so the word that MEANS "letters" (stationery) has the E and not the A in it. Also, you want MORE dessert but don't want more DESERT (The "s" is what you want MORE of, apparently) but it worked. I wonder if teachers still teach little mnemonic devices. They sure work wonders. (I see the stationery/stationary mistake made all the time, though!).
