My assistant principal is working on a disertation and would like to know
the correct way to cite information from an Appendix using APA style. I put
brackets around the part that needs to be cited.

Much of the original literature, Modern Education For The Junior High School
Years (Van Til, 1961), Making Education Special for All Young Adolescents
(Knight, 1997), and the like, centered on the social and emotional
development of middle schoolers. The literature gave great attention to how
schools should deal with the newly researched findings on adolescents. In
particular, James Beane, in his book Middle School Curriculum (1993) states
that the middle school should meet the needs of students focusing primarily
on personal and social concerns. [Bearne issued a very challenging mandate
for the middle schools to give a great deal of attention to the social and
physical needs of these students (p.7). Appendix A lists the areas Dr. Beane
has established for his curriculum that addresses young adolescents' needs
and interests.] There are middle schools who are sincere and committed to
those mandates from Dr. Beane and have been addressing them in their
curriculum reforms. Others are developing research projects to describe
best practices and then development curriculum reform to match and expand
the social, emotional agenda to encompass intellectual and physical needs as
well. The suggestion is that "middle schools can, at the same time, reap
both the benefits of genuine student-centered, integrative curriculum and
instruction (Beane, 1993,1997) and also develop competencies in
state-mandated standards so that students can make acceptable scores on
typical standard-based tests"[Richardson, 2000 #87 p.1].
