GEN: seeking participants for mentoring study

I am seeking volunteer participants for a research study on electronic
mentoring.  Many school media specialists do not have access to a
professional mentor on site.  Electronic mentoring, communicating primarily
through email, makes mentoring relationships possible to anyone with access
to email.  For this study, new professionals will be paired with more
experienced professionals and will communicate via email over the course of a
school year.

Mentoring relationships are valuable both to the protege and to the mentor.
The protege gains a coach, role model, and advocate willing to share his or
her knowledge and experience.  The mentor gains the satisfaction that comes
from helping others as well as gaining fresh insights and knowledge that come
from someone new to the field.  In the best of circumstances, both gain a
friend.

For this study, proteges seeking a mentor should be professionals with less
than two years of experience in school librarys/media centers.

Mentors can be anyone with more than two years of experience interested in
developing a one on one mentoring relationship with someone new to the field.

Time commitment - Individual relationships will vary but participants should
expect to communicate a minimum of 2-3 times per month.
