> > >I would like to know when >Winnie-the-Pooh's birthday is. > Pam, Hi! I used to write a column for a teddy bear magazine and did a two part column on Pooh. Winnie's birthday can be celebrated on two different days. Winnie the Pooh was given to Christopher Robin Milne on Christopher's first birthday, August 21, 1921. However, Pooh's birthday is commonly listed as the publication date of "Winnie-the-Pooh" which was October 14th, 1926. If you look in the annual Winnie the Pooh Calendar published by E. P. Dutton, October 14th is marked as Pooh's birthday. Years ago, when Pooh and his friends used to live in the lobby of E. P. Dutton, my preschool story hour kids and I made birthday cards and sent them to Pooh c/o E. P. Dutton. We received a wonderful letter in response "from Eeyore." Last week I visited Pooh, Piglet, Eeyore, Tigger, and Kanga (Roo was lost in the 100 Acre Woods) in their new home. Since 1987, Pooh and friends have lived in the Donnell Library Center of the New York Public Library. -- Sincerely, Deb Logan Librarian/Media Specialist Mount Gilead High School Mount Gilead, OH OELMA Central Region Director OELMA Advocacy Chair MAILTO:jd3logan@bright.net http://www.deblogan.com =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-==-= All postings to LM_NET are protected under copyright law.
