Dear LM_NET Colleagues, I am working on a project where I need to post a clear, one-paragraph definition of what are library reference sources. I would appreciate your comments and suggestions on what I have written thus far, is included below. Please let me know if I have left out something important, or if something is wrongly stated. Please respond by Monday, the 12th of August, and I will compile a Hit to share with the entire group. Here it is: "Reference sources provide concentrated information on a topic. They are used to find quick answers to questions that relate to established data or facts on people, places or events. Some types of information you might find in reference works are: addresses, brief biographical essays, definitions, formulas, lists, maps and geographical data, short articles on a topic, and statistics. There are general reference sources, such as encyclopedias and dictionaries; plus subject-specific reference works (e.g., art and music dictionaries, science encyclopedias, etc.) Reference sources are especially helpful for getting an overview of a subject when starting a research project." Thank you! Glad to have you with us on LM_NET!
