Hi! We have just opened our Internet Terminals and we have set guidleines and procedures for use by the students. After three days, we have experienced problems and issues regarding its use. No problem with class reservations because librarains and teachers recommend sites and supervise them in surfing. Also, we instruct them on using the net as a reference source. Strategies and techniques are taught to the studnets when surfing. The problem arise during individual use. Most students are not really looking and gathering info. They just use the stations for leisurely surfing. To make matters worst, the school removed the filtering software making them succeptible to garbage sites and the more they are likely to be lost because of pop ups and ads in teh net. How can we minimize this? Our Internet terminals are open to 3rd graders upto 7th graders. High school is in another library.
