Hello from D.C.

As the new school year gets underway I would like to thank those of you on LM_NET
for your non-stop support of The Virtual Acquisition Shelf and News Desk site.

It's wonderful to have many of you visiting the site and subscribing to our
weekly email reminder.

For those of you who haven't visited in a few months or those who've never
stopped by, please consider this a personal invite to do so the next time you've
a few minutes.

The Virtual Acquisition Shelf and News Desk is a daily posting of library and
information industry news, comment, search tips, and a source for new, updated,
and/or newly discovered resources.

Here's a brief look at just a few of the newest postings.

Popular Culture—United States
Audio Content on the Internet: “Present at the Creation” from National Public
Radio
Since the beginning of this year, NPR (National Public Radio) has aired a weekly
feature on its Morning Edition program. Each report explores an “icon of American
culture”. All reports can be heard online (RealAudio). Each report also has a web
page with a complete narrative and links to many additional resources. Features
have included hamburgers, surfboards, Scrabble, Gumby, and Star Trek. All reports
can be found accessed via the “Present at the Creation” Archives.
