Good Evening everyone! I am a first year librarian in a middle school (student population 650) = and really could use some help with the following... We have been having humidity problems in our library caused by air = conditioning malfunctions and three floor to ceiling windows that leak = whenever it rains. During the past two weeks humidity has averaged from = 72% to 81% despite the a/c being run nearly all day. The temp is now = around 68 degrees F which is coldddddd... We had 72 books that began to show signs of mildew/mold which we removed = and treated as recommended. All of this leads to the problem. The principal at my school is = convinced that the carpeting which is old and puckered needs to go. The = problem is that she wants to have tile installed in the entire library. = What I need help with is a way to convince her that we need carpet and = not tile. Are there recommendations or reasons for carpet? I just = think that students walking on tile would be really loud and not = conducive to quiet studying or reading. I'll be glad to post any info that I get. Thanks in advance! Karen McLendon Library/Media Coordinator G.C.
