How about, "I Am The Cheese" by Robert Cormier,---
"Among the Hidden," "Among the Betrayed," and "Among the Imposters" by
Margaret Peterson Haddix? (She also wrote, "Running Out of Time" which
involves a community that "hides" some secrets from the younger ones.)
I'm also reading a new book (which seems to be moving in that same
direction) called, "The Angel Factory" by Terence Blacker It's about a
young boy who finds that his "perfect" life is not so perfect after
all...things are not what they appear to be and his parents know something
that he doesn't....If you've read it ...don't tell me the ending....just let
me know if it doesn't fit this theme! *grin*
