HI, In addition to his animal fantasies I just discovered a 2001 copyright of his called Castaways of the Flying Dutchman. It begins with life on board the sailing ship from the perspective of a young boy who unexpectedly finds himself a part of the crew. When the ship is cursed to sail forever the boy and his dog are spared and washed up on the barren coast of Tierra del Fuego where he is taken in by a shepard. The boy and his dog have become immortal (never age) and set about the globe helping people in need, but always moving on when the task is done and a bell tolls. The bulk of the plot involves helping a village in England avoid being bought up by a corrupt businessman who in the name of progress wants to replaced it with a cement factory. A series of clues are solved cooperatively by a group of interesting characters. Nice mixture of legend, historical fiction and fantasy. A change of pace for him, but a really good read. I was left wanting additional adventures of the boy and his dog. M.
