There are many advantages to having a shared catalogue K-12, not the least of which is that the student is able to review all the material in the library collection. We have six different libraries in our Educational Community, and have an interlibrary loan policy in effect. Students are allowed to borrow books from other libraries in the system--they go to their home school library to make the request. Also, our Upper School has two campuses (and, therefore, two libraries). Being able to see what is in that library helps us to avoid duplication of materials.
