I have read many people asking for alternative book fairs to Scholastic. (myself being one of them). It's because Scholastic has bought out most of the other vedors. Not only is it kind of boring to have the same company all the time, they are now reducing their profits which you know should be happening the other way around. I wonder if there is some way we can get together as a group and do something about the lack of competition? Maybe they're breaking the anti-trust laws! If anybody has any ideas, I would be happy to help. Barnes and Noble B/N sends their own employees and cash registers (and bags) for the checkout area; parents man the various subject tables to assist the kids. Advtage is that teachers can use their discount cards (which of course then lowers the profits), and they accept credit cards! (just like the store would). We use the B/N on Route 22 in Springfield., NJ 2. Chinaberry. Phone # (1-888-481-6744 Monday - Saturday 6:00 AM - 6:00 PM) =and their web address (chinaberry.com). 3. Individual arrangements with local bookstores. Please let me know if anyone has any extra suggestions. Christine H.
