We have a teacher who is looking for information on poet Billy Collins and his work. He is our new poet laureate. We located an article on Newsbank from the Nov 14, 2001 Chicago Tribune (author: Patrick Reardon) and in the article it refers to an intiative called Poetry 180 - aimed at sparking a love of poetry in teenagers by presenting a poem a day in high schools throughout the country - simply to hear and enjoy it. According to the article, a list of 180 poems is posted on the Library of Congress website www.loc.gov Is anyone taking part in this? Do you have his books in the library? I think this will make an interesting thread for us to pursue, so please post your replies to the listserv. TIA "In theory, there isn't any difference between theory and practice.
