Folks, Since I am the librarian in a small, independent school, I also have begun teaching 8th grade English this year. Thank goodness I am confident running the library because this has taken me a tremendous amount of time to develop the curriculum. I am about to embark on a unit on Twain and The Adventures of Tom Sawyer. I've spent hours searching the web, looking for projects and webquests but I just haven't come up with something that grabs me. I thought that I would appeal to the combined wisdom of this group to see if any of you have some creative ideas about how to bring this book alive with a neat project. I love Twain and since this will be the first time that most of my 8th graders are reading him, I hope to make it memorable. If you don't have any tried and true units on Tom Sawyer, how about a Midsummer Night's Dream? (O.K., so I'm getting greedy, but I'm planning ahead.) If you respond to me personally, I will post a hit to the group. Thank you!
