Sorry for the delay in posting a hit. I had messages at work and at =
home and needed to combine them first. I decided to go with the small =
handheld one Earl Moniz suggested from Radio Shack. He even sent me a =
picture, but since I don't know if the list can accept them, I will =
leave that part out.

Elaine,
it is called a bulk eraser... it is simply a huge electromagnet. You =
plug it in and push the button and it spins a big magnet inside creating =
a magnetic field... you just pass the thing over the videos you want to =
erase, and they are!

Be very careful where you store it when you don't use it... could prove =
to be costly - erasing things you don't intend to!

Elaine,
I did some hunting for you...
Radio Shack has one for sale...
They may not have them in stock - so make sure you ask for the catalog =
number ... 44-233.

Good luck...

the most efficient was is to simply tape over them . Taping over them
automatically erases anything .

It is a giant magnet that is electric. I ordered one from Highsmith =
years
ago and finally literally burned it up one day of heavy erasing-it was
literally smoking!

Our school purchased a bulk tape eraser from NATIONAL AUDIO-Visual =
Supply.
Don't get a small one. You have to repeat the steps numerous time if =
you
do. Bigger is better in this case. I would pay $350 to $500 plus.

You are looking for a "de-gausser" which is a large electromagnet that =
you plug in, rub the videotapes around the top of it, and voila the =
tapes are completely erased. I don't know how much they are but I used =
to work in a video production house and we had one. The one we had was =
about the size of a turntable and one swipe of a videotape was all it =
took. HTH

We use a giant magnetic video eraser. It costs less than $100 and is
very quick. You just hold the magnet over the video and zap it.

IT's called a bulk tape eraser, and you can get one at Radio Shack for
about $25.
