Hello, Our early childhood center is having a book challenged by a parent. The book is Perfect Pancakes, If You Please by William Wise (1997). The mother objects to the words black magic used twice in the book. The book is a simple Rumplestilskin-like story about how the king will give his daughter in marriage to anyone who can make perfect pancakes. We have a policy in place and all of us from the Superintendent, local librarian, principal, etc. are not really worried about this one. However, the mother is continuing so we have to go to the next step and have a meeting. Do any of you have words of wisdom for me? This magic-scare thing is getting out of control. (By the way, we have had no problem with Harry Potter at our older schools.) Thanks so much.
