One of our lovely students put in a password into the system setup so that
we could not get into the computers. (Yes, I have learned my lesson and now
will have our own there!).

One of the computers is a Dell Optiplex, and I solved the problem by popping
out the battery for an hour.

The other computers are old NEC Powermates. I opened one of them today
(Powermate Ve100) to do the same thing and couldn't find the battery at all.
The user guide had no diagrams of the inside of the computer, but did
mention something about NVRAM?? that replaces the battery??? Something about
it "holding" the information when the computer is off (sorry I don't have
the guide with me now). I don't know where or what this is. Is it possible
that there's no battery? I really need to get into that computer. Does
anyone have any suggestions as to how I can override the password and get
into the computer?
