I think you might be referring to the book called  "The Best Little
Boy in the World" by John Reid    I've read it.  It is outdated and
not appropriate for H.S. students.  There are better books out there
now.

One I will suggest is:  In Your Face: Stories from the Lives of Queer
Youth  by Mary L. Gray,
Harrington Park Press, 1999   ISBN 1-56023-887-9 .   It is a
collection of first person essays by 15 kids age 14 -18.

I know the author and some of the kids that were interviewed for the
book on the West coast.

Check Alyson Publications for books. Sorry, I don't have their web address.

I would also suggest checking the Gay Lesbian Straight Education
Network web site at Http://www.GLSEN.org for resources and newer
books on Gay and Lesbian issues.
There are two offices in Ohio.  One in Cleavland (440) 738-7525, one

Chicago (773) 271-8710 or (773)275-2951

You may also want to refer the counselor to the Parent and Friends of
Lesbian and Gays at Http:www.pflag.org  They too have books available
for sale.

As a foot note, please use the term gay or lesbian instead of
homosexual.  Your students will feel more comfortable with that term.
