One of the best Renaissance sites I have seen has been put together by a
Middle School here in Illinois. The URL is

The _Compendium of Common Knowledge_ is another site with accurate, well
researched information about the Renaissance in England. It includes
information that the people living at the time would have known and taken
for granted. Thus, it would give an insight into everyday life more that
thing such as trade routes or economics.

Sadly, unless it has changed rather significantly since my last thorough
visit, (and a brief check indicates that it has not) one site that looks
good has numerous factual errors. It includes information put together as
part of a research project for a teacher who seems not to be too well versed
in Elizabethan history or he/she would have caught some of the errors.
Dates of births, deaths, and coronations that could easily be verified using
other sources are incorrect.

My husband and I are Renaissance reenactors and have done a fair amount of
research into the time period which leads me to my evaluations of the
accuracy of these sources. Obviously, something that happened 400 and more
years ago will leave some discrepancies in information, but overall, what I
have seen in the first two will stand up pretty well to comparisons with
other sources.
