Hello, Middle school colleagues,
I am moving from an elementary school to a brand new middle school. I have
been given $50,000 for new books and of course am thrilled about the book
money. We will start with some books from a school that is closing. More money
will be coming shortly for videos, software, etc. I feel like I have died and
gone to heaven!!
Today the school system's library supervisor gave me $5,000 to spend to make
the library a real SHOWCASE. SHE mentioned electric pencil sharpeners,
library organizers(?), posters, whatever is needed. I'm ecstatic but need
HELP. I have been in an elementary library for 15 years so I need all of your
wonderful ideas for this library grades 6 - 8. Enrollment will be about 800.
The library is beautiful and is done in different shades of green(I'm a green
person so this is great to me)...lots of shelving but very little wall
space...room enough for 2 classes to sit. There is some low shelving in the
middle of the room. Double doors lead into the library with 3-4 feet of glass
on each side of the doors.
Please give me ideas for posters, displays, signs for different areas(ceiling
is very high-maybe 12 ft.)anything to make the library look really great. I
have worked hard on my book orders so we will have lots of really great books
and materials. Please include any suggestions of companies/catalogs you have
used. Also, if anyone has pictures online of their library with some good
ideas I would love to look at those.
