After requests from parents, I do sell religious books at my book fair. If
a student purchases a book that a parent does not like, I am happy for the
student to bring the book back and either exchange it for one more
appropriate or give the student a refund. I also have this policy for other
books that might oppose parents' viewpoints on what their child should read.
My Scholastic representative is very accommodating in this type of
situation.
I do ask for written permission from the parent if a student below third
grade wants to purchase a Harry Potter or Artemis Fowl book. Remember that
the customer should have a pleasant experience at the book fair if you want
to keep his or her business. Happy customers are always good advertisement.
