Surveying LMC THANKS

Thanks to all that responded regarding surveying teachers and students at
the beginning of the year or waiting. My intention with the survey is not to
belittle or criticize the previous librarian or her program(as a respondent
seemed to believe), but to find out what is working and what, if any,
improvements (within reason) teachers feel are instrumental to a successful
library program. Of course, I am planning to meet with teachers individually
before school starts, but as I am not always an "on-the-spot" type of person
and like to have time to formulate responses, I would like to give others
who may need time to think before responding another option. Hence, the
survey.

Suggestions received: wait until late November, early October to survey; ask
teachers 2 questions: what they like about the library and what, if any,
improvements could be made; make teachers aware of services that I can
provide and suggest/encourage unit collaborations. I also received sample
teacher and student questionnaires.

I plan to encourage students and teachers to provide LMC suggestions
throughout the year, and formally survey the learning community in November
or December to see how I am doing as well as the library program. This way I
will have the winter break to reflect on feedback.
