Re: Target: Middle school LMC scheduling

Our 6th and 7th graders(we do not have 8th grade) have
a scheduled book check out time for 20 min every other
week scheduled into their langauge arts  or readintg
class.  I read them  a short story, talk  about an
upcoming activity in the library or teach them a new
skill concerning the OPAC. During this 20 min(often
25) they can  look for books, read magazinesor take AR
quizzes.  Some do sit and cha tbut ... For research
the classes are scheduled by the core area teacher.
This has worked  quite well.
