TARGET: a particular horse book

I just got this message from a friend:

"I have been searching the internet in vain for my all time favourite children's
horse book.  I thought it was Casey Jones Rides Again or Vanity Rides
Again.  It was my absolute fantasy novel when I was young: about a young girl who
is taken under the wing of a glamourous girl who lets her ride her
beautiful mare, very successfully in a horse show, and the younger girl gets all
sorts of treats like lovely riding clothes .  I thought the mare's name was
Vanity, but I just can't remember."

She's 34 years old, so I assume that this book would have been in print in the
late '70's?  I'm hoping that if we can get the correct title that we can locate
the book.
