Hi, I was just watching Judging Amy, a rerun of course that I don't remember seeing but I had to share. She was taking her daughter to school with her "book report" which was a rather large poster and Amy tells her daughter that when she was in school book reports didn't require a trip to the art supply store and her daughter asked if that wasn't boring and Amy said no it wasn't because in those days a book report actually had something to do with the book. I guess this resonated with me because I would absolutely hate all the artsy-craftsy projects, and not just for book reports, that kids do today. One of the most nightmarish assignments I remember from grade school was creating a salt-map of Alaska.
