Let me share my artsy-crafty school story.

When I was a freshman in high school (1972), I had a World Regions class.
The teacher was covering the World War I era, and decided to try "something
new." She divided us into groups. So, my best friend Patty & I teamed up
with a boy (forget name) and a sophomore (drop dead Gorgeous) named Mary (she
had flunked the year before and was repeating). The project was to research
some aspect of the World War I era, write a presentation for the class, and
complete some sort of art work representing the topic.

Well, my friend Patty being Patty, she said "whatever." And Mary sort of
just looked disgusted that she had to speak with freshmen. So, I told them
about a story my gram told me about this flu virus that killed a whole lotta
people after the war was over. We decided that nobody else would know about
that and chose it as our topic.
For the artsy portion of the project, we made a date to meet at a cemetery
that Saturday afternoon and do a collage of gravestone rubbings of people who
died in 1917 (infants, old people, young adults, etc. to show how the flu did
not discriminate). We also decided to have a picnic lunch in the cemetery.

Anyway, on Saturday, Mary showed up with her boyfriend--a 17-year-old totally
hot blonde from the west side. I took one look at him and "knew" he was the
one. We celebrated our 28th wedding anniversary this month.

So, don't knock the artsy crafty stuff!!
