Another helpful download is Ad-Aware which deletes invasive spyware that has
been unknowingly installed on your computer. Many of the popups install
spyware but simple browsing is enough for these invasive programs to worm
their way into your hard drive. According to the documentation "Ad-aware is
a free multi spyware removal utility that scans your memory, registry and
hard drives for known spyware and scumware components and lets you remove
them safely. It is updated frequently." You can get it from Lavasoft at
http://www.lsfileserv.com/

I have installed it on both my home and school computer and am always amazed
at how much junk has been attached to my computer without my knowledge.

Subject: Annoying popup problem solved

Thanks to all who sent advice on how to get rid of annoying popups. I
downloaded the free Popup Stopper from http://www.panicware.com and tried it
on several sites that I know use popups. It worked! You can set your
computer to play sounds when popups are stopped (which would drive me crazy)
or an icon in the menu bar will flash indicating that popups have been
stopped.
