An instructor in my school is trying to determine if a student's poems
are her own work. We were able to find one poem by doing a Google
search, but we can't find the others. It seems to me if one poem was
plagiarized then there is a good chance that the others are too. The
instructor would like proof, so I am going to the experts.

Are you familiar with any of the following poems?

If not, do you have any suggestions for finding them? I'm still
learning all the tricks of the trade.

Poem 1:

The Barrel Racer

You've been all day 'round the rodeo
With your heart beating steady,
When the announcer calls out,
"Barrel Racers get ready!"
Your heart starts pounding,
Your mouth gets so dry.
You have figured to win,
It's now time to try.
Is your cinch tight enough?
Your saddle to the force?
Is your horse warm enough?
Should you walk him some more?
Girls were smiling and laughing,
But now that is gone.
We all tend to business,
The barrel race is on!
You watch the contestants
While riding around.
The ole' horse that's runnin'
Can sure cover ground.
Then you are up.
With some fast times to beat.
You love to run fast
And take barrels neat.
You get the sensation
Of flying through space.
There is no time for thinking
While running the race.
The run is over
In seconds and tenths.
You loosen your cinch
As you look through the fence.
You're shaky and breathless
As you lead at a walk.
In a few minutes
Before you can talk.
The times are all in,
You find you have won,
And you know it was worth it
When it's all said and done.
But win, lose, or draw,
There's one thing you know-
You'll barrel race again
At the next rodeo.

The instructor thinks that the following may be excerpts taken from a
book, but she isn't sure.

Poem 2:

One Last Ride

Clouds, try your best to hold up the sun.
     There's time enough yet for
          one last ride.

Poem 3:

Good Morning

The sun still sleepy-eyed
     Nothing but footsteps
on the way to the barn.

Poem 4:

Waiting in the Pasture

Long green grasses stretched
     out like a welcome mat
          He waits patiently...

Poem 5: The instructor thinks this may be the student's own work. I'm
including it in case someone has seen it.

Barrel Racing

B ehind the gate
A lmost time
R eady to go
R ace against time
E veryone watching
L oping steadily

R unning faster
A round the Cloverleaf
C antering slower
I am finished
N obdy faster
G oing to win

THANKS for your assistance!!!
