Printing websites is similar to photocopying the encyclopedia article. (except you don't always know beforehand if it will be half a page or 20 pages). In either case we don't know if the information is really going to be used, but it does free up the student in terms of being able to access that information anywhere, anytime, and with a perhaps currently unavailable assistant, teacher, group member, etc. Copy Pasting notes (longer stuff into a pathfinder, short facts possibly into a teacher designed table) means the kid is actively engaged in reading for information and can be set up so we, as teacher collaborators, can know what goals the teacher has (what the information requirements are and how they are going to be used) and the progress the kid is making toward them. And, of course, the kid can copy paste the bib info at the same time. Printing directly from a web site encourages copying more than is needed. For written reports, students still need to use note cards.
