What actually makes more sense is to point out that library is organized
for the benefit of the users. Remember Ranganathan's 5 laws of Library
Science:
1Books are for use
2Every book to its reader
3Every reader to their book
4Save the time of the reader
5The library is a growing organism.
The Dewey system has a place for everything but librarians have
traditionally pulled out certain sections for ease of our patrons.
Hence:
Fiction and Picture Books, which should be in the 800's along with
poetry
Biography, which should be in 900's along with history
Reference, which could be intershelved with labels denoting checkout
status
