Vicki,=20 Here are some titles for your students looking for civil war books. Of = course my all time favorite is Pink and Say by Patricia Polacco.=20 Some others:=20 Across Five Aprils by Irene Hunt=20 Bull Run by Paul Fleischman. This tells a story with a poem for 12 = voices. This might be good to suggest to some teachers.=20 Girl in Blue or Amelia's War by Anne Rinaldi, and also the American = Girls collection if you have girls interested in the subject.=20 Soldier's Heart by Gary Paulsen is based on a real boy and an excellent = story.=20 The Long Road to Gettysburg by Jim Murphy describes the battle and = dedication of Gettysburg and also has black and white illustrations.=20 Finally, if you have students interested in history in general, the book = We Were There Too, by Phillip M. Hoose tells about several young people = throughout history.=20 I hope this helps!=20 Melanie Poncik=20 Teacher, MLS grad student=20 Golbow Elementary/SHSU melanieponcik@hotmail.com=20 =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-==-= All postings to LM_NET are protected under copyright law.
